PHONICS - LONG A (ay,ai,a_e)

During the introduction of phonics I always ask my students to come up with any words that they think might contain the phonic being studied and as a result of this brainstorming  we come up to a big list of words and they feel very excited up to the moment when I tell them it's time to copy the list of words in their notebooks:)
However, eventually I concentrate on the most important and frequently used words and include them in my worksheets and handouts.
In the worksheet below I came up to 6 words with each set of phonics representing Long A but still left some more space for some more words.
It includes a simple matching exercise, matching the pictures with their correct names.

PHONICS - Long A (ay,ai,a-e)

This was the first time my students were introduced to vowel phonics and I had  some doubts if they would grasp it easily but luckily they didn't have any difficulty.
In the book there were only 2 words with each pattern but I added some more already familiar words to the list.

I found a Pinterest Board full of Long A resources. You can check it out here.

PHONICS (B-P, C-G, D-T)

I am really very happy to start teaching phonics this year. It's so much fun and useful. The book I am using also has some cute chants with each phonics set that the kids just enjoy listening to and singing along. With each phonics set we come up to 20 words they have already learned before and we write them down in the copybooks.

PHONICS (M-N, F-V, L-R)

Teaching phonics is a method of teaching beginners to read and pronounce words by learning to associate letters or letter groups with the sounds they represent.
We are starting Phonics this year so I made a Phonics Wheel activity to be done while studying the Phonics.
